Get The Lead Out® provides emergency lead paint, asbestos and mold testing and remediation services for communities that have been damaged by violent storms and hurricanes. “Each year at this time, we put our environmental inspection and remediation teams on alert for emergency responses to severe storm damage,” said Kathryn Hubicki, president of Get The Lead Out®. “One of the east coast emergency response programs that our company participates with is through the Hilton hotel chain, as they have many hotel properties along the east coast.”
The official Atlantic hurricane season began on July 1, 2012, and will end November 30, 2012. “NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center says there is a 70 percent chance of nine to 15 named storms with top winds of 39 mph or higher,” says Hubicki. “They predict that possibly three may become major hurricanes with top winds of 111 mph or higher, ranking Category 3, 4 or 5.”

“These severe storms obviously can destroy and disturb construction materials that could possibly contain lead paint and asbestos, exposing them to the environment and posing further health concerns,” adds Hubicki. “In addition to those health and environmental concerns, the issue of toxic mold and mildew surfaces after a large water and weather disaster.”
